Chef Katie Collier’s passion for Italian cooking comes from her time spent living in Florence, Italy as a young adult with her mother. When she came back to the states she used that experience to open the acclaimed Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria. She has since won Best Pizza & Best Pasta by Feast Magazine, Best Pizza by Ladue News and Sauce Magazine, multiple A List Awards, Best Restaurant in STL Magazine, and most recently Best Chef in Feast Magazine, Sauce Magazine and STL Magazine -- making her the first woman to achieve this feat.
In an effort to bring her passion and award-winning food into more homes, she recently launched Vero Pizza & Pasta, an online meal kit delivery service, now available to 75% of the country. Vero meal kits incorporate the best ingredients with easy recipes and videos for delicious Italian meals. Vero is not only bring families back to the kitchen and dinner table, it’s teaching the novice home cook how to feel like a master chef.
Katie’s success and awards did not come easy. Katie was a high school drop out who never went to culinary school and, a mere seven years ago, was homeless and penniless. Able to turn her life around, she got sober, met her husband, and then together they launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for their first restaurant. Today Katie has a successful restaurant group, and employs 250 people. Her gratitude for how far she has come in such a short time has inspired her to giveback through her restaurants and Vero. Her restaurants have donated over $150,000 to local charities, many of which are homeless and women’s shelters. Vero donates an emergency meal to a child in need with every kit sold.
